: : Someone told me that Wittgenstein had said that one of the differences between man and animals is that you can't make an appointment with, let's say, a dog. To say to a dog something like "Let's meet here wednesday at 10 o'clock" is meaningless.
: : I can't remember that as something Wittgenstein has said, but as it seems a very wittgensteinian remark, I think I might have just missed it.
: : If someone here remember where it is located, please answer.
: : Thanks in advance.
I think W is saying something similar on p174 (P.I.). "A dog believes his master is at the door. But can he also believe his master will come the day after to-morrow?...". I had a great deal of trouble with this statement. I really thought that my pet dog displayed hope but now I can see what W is getting at.
