Love and Fear

The Duality of Man

Don't fear,

Respect.

Don't lose it,

Let it go.

Don't catch them,

Pick them up.

If you stumble too fast,

You're bound to fall.

The Duality of Man-

All actions of man stem from either love or fear. All selfish actions and wants are to promote one's survival. These actions are out of fear. All selfless actions negate the logic of survival. These actions are out of love. By addressing (identifying and overcoming) fears, you have a foundation for greater love.

Love-

Don't let love be confused with selfish wants and desires. If you think you love someone and you want to marry and spend your life with them, you probably don't love them at all. You desire to have them in your life because they fulfill all of your other wants. In a sense, they enable you to immediately overcome your fears through them. But if you don't learn to let that person go, eventually you will lose them. This will leave you with nothing but the same fears and wants that you had before that person came into your life. The only difference is now you will have the pain of loss and a new fear. The fear of getting close to someone only to lose them. Love is selflessly given and gracefully accepted.

Union-

The purpose of the union between two people is that you can only completely see yourself if you see yourself through someone else's eyes as well as your own. It is a self corrective relationship if there is balance in the union. When people care about each other, they help each other address their fears. They avoid actions that will hurt the person that they love. A union without fear is a peaceful union.

Fears-

Most fears are learned at a very early age. Some are primal or instinctual. The greatest and most ultimate fear is the fear of death. This fear can also be stated as "self preservation." It is the want to live. Most other fears stem from this fear, such as fears of violation to your physical body, the need to belong, the want to be dominant over others. Aspects of man that stem from these fears are things such as pride, greed, power, glutony, etc. All of these aspects of man bring about actions such as murder, war, and other violence. On a smaller scale, the clic bully.

Identifying Fears-

The most difficult part of overcoming fears is identifying them. One can identify their fears by yzing their own actions. And by asking themself whether their action was of love or of fear. If you find yourself berating an acquaintence and deriving pleasure from it, know that it is of your own fear. This is an example of a fairly blatant fearful action. You must yze the most subtle actions as well.

Survival-

Struggling to survive and the idea of self preservation are both futile. "A recent poll indicates that the world mortality rate is remaining at a constant 100%." -The Onion. I mean there is a lot of dead people. Sorry to get morbid on you, but the point that I'm illustrating is an important one. To be or not to be is not the question. In one hundred years, we'll all be dead. So whether or not you choose to preserve your life doesn't matter. What does matter is whether you die full of love or full of fear. Whether or not you've found your peace and let go.

Stewards of Nature-

The best way that i have found so far for overcoming fears and letting go of wants is by being completely dominated by the world around you, and living at the mercy of nature. Once you overcome your fears, then you may respect the world around you and awe at it's beauty with an appreciative eye. And then you may live as a Steward of Nature.

You may give selflessly to the world around you, and accept gracefully what the world gives to you.

The Balance of Pleasure and Pain-

You have both pleasure and pain in your life, or neither. You can't have only one without the other. You can't feel pain without feeling pleasure in it's place afterward. Even if that pleasure is nothing more than relief from not feeling pain. This goes both ways. Pleasure and pain both stem from fears because they are both products of selfish wants. By letting go of a want that brings you pleasure or pain, you automatically let go of an equal amount of the other. They are balanced.

Peace will not exist among man, until man finds peace within.

The Balance of Faith and Doubt-

One does not exist in a man without the other. All things "known," are based on faith in probability and consistency. So, all things "known" are only theory. This leaves much room for doubt. If a person has no doubts, they have no need for faith. One is always trying to overcome the other. They exist in a constant struggle. They are balanced. If you are going to have faith in something, have faith in what is probable and consistent. Balance is consistent, omnipresent and infinite.

Judgement-

Innocence, you are born with. The more experiences you have throughout your life, the more innocence you shed. Regardless of your actions. If one is inflicting pain on others around them, they are innocent until they feel the same pain that they inflict. It is when they feel the pain that they gain the experience. Once they understand the experience, they gain the wisdom. Once they gain the wisdom of the experience, then they may be held accountable for judgement of their actions. This is why innocence should not be preserved. This is when many stumble along their path, and where many may fall. You don't catch them, but instead pick them up and help them understand why they fell. First they must learn to fall gracefully. As they begin understanding why we fall, they can also help people up when they fall as well.
