I was wondering what are your thoughts about
the possibility that Machiavelli's intentions in
writing The Prince was to, not describe to Lorenzo
de'Medici how to be a good prince, but describe to
the citizens of Florence the kind of Prince he
could never be and hence to persuade a civic
revolt against him- and a return to the republic.
I find there is some evidence to this. Could
anybody offer more?
