I was just going to ask where this quote came from, and now I know.
The Jesus portryed in the Gospel is so vulnerable that it is hard to understand why anyone would create him as a fake. What's the point of creating a Messiah that gets killed? Plus, if the Gospels were faked don't you think the differences among the synoptic accounts would have been erased? And why would St. John's Gospel be included at all?
The issue of fraud deserves more serious discussion than this. If you have real evidence, please share it, but please don't use complete fiction.
: : "How well we know what a profitable superstition
: : this fable of Christ has been for us."
: : -- Pope Leo X (1513 - 1521)
: : A Pope confessed to it
: Whoever uses this quote deserves no respect as a researcher. It is not a historical quote but appears in the fictional work of John Bale, an apostate Carmelite. See the full story at:
: It seems clear who the real "Bible Fraud" around here is.
