I think that Thomas Paine's writings had a great deal to do with our founders making up their mind to divorce theirselve from England. However, I think that the foundation of our government set up by the founders was influenced greatly by John Locke..
Our founders mostly to a man were consumed by a thirst
for knowlege, which is quite different from the majority of our partisan political people today.
