I am in the process of seeking a literary agent to represent me in presentation of a science fiction novel. I have experienced a considerable amount of difficulty in this process. The publishing industry is filled with false promises. My lessons were costly and hard-learned. If you believe that my material has potential I think that I am ready to make a commitment to get the material published and on the market.
I think I should provide some background on the development of my novel. It was originally, a methodology of learning how to use a word processor. From that, it became a form of entertainment, and it grew from there. Many friends and acquaintances read it, and found it interesting, and over the years, have told me the quality is outstanding. Now, after investing more time and material into it, I have developed this work into something that I think is potentially a novel with some good content. But as my experience thus far has proven, I know absolutely nothing about the publishing industry, and can afford little more in the negative educational processes. For that reason, I find myself looking at other possibilities available on the internet.
This novel is over 700 pages in length, with 18 chapters. It is a story of a terrorist plot to initiate a third word war to destroy western civilization, and initiate an Islamic style dominated global rule of the world. But these people have little understanding of the concept of Mutually ured Destruction (MAD). Neither do they understand the full scenario of the destructive capability of global war and the use of nuclear-chemical-biological warfare they have initiated. It quickly gets beyond control.
The major elements of the story are two Space Stations, one is a strategic defense unit, and the other is dedicated to scientific research of living and working in space. The other element is the survivors on Earth, mainly in the southeastern United States, and how they work together in an attempt to rebuild what is left.
I have no knowledge of the publishing industry beyond a few negatives. I need a professional to help me move forward. If you are interested please respond. My query follows this note:

Book Title WORLD WAR III TRIUMPH OF TERROR

Author's Name NORMAN L. PREVATTE ("NORMAN LESLEY")

Type of Book Science Fiction

Market Comparison RED STORM RISING, TOM CLANCY

Number of Pages 602

Long Line - The story of the survivors of a third world war initiated by terrorists

Author's Perception of Work - This is a story of the survivors of a war of near complete devastation on a worldwide basis, started by a radical Islamic organization. Their objective is to provoke a nuclear-chemical-biological war between the existing super powers and other nuclear-armed nations. The main characters are the crews of two large space stations in orbit over the United States, and the few survivors remaining in the surface. These survivors must face just about every conceivable calamity that could be generated in a nuclear-chemical-biological war, along with several strange twists in the scenario. Mutated wildlife, loss of infrastructure, and extreme cold weather.

Market - This book is tailored to young adults with active interest in current events relating to the War on Terror, and those with interest in the space program. It should also be of interest to members of the military service.

About the Author - Norman L. Prevatte, born in 1949, grew up in central North Carolina. He is a graduate of Gordon Military College, Barnesville, GA, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL. Mr. Prevatte is a veteran of the 1991 Gulf War, and a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. His 22 years of military service includes National Guard, Active and U.S, Army Reserve service in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt.
