I was just noticing that Herodotus capitalizes on women as comic relief. This was interesting because there are so many other little episodes that could be comical, but he does not present them as such (example, Xerxes whipping the Hellespont). It seems as if in this way he trivializes women and their place in society, but this doesn't explain his respectful presentation of women such as Artemesium.
