The antagonist of the lottery would be Mrs. Huchinson and the protagonist, the lottery itself. There are many literary symbols that mean a whole lot more than they appear. The spot on the paper could represent an unclean part of the town, the apron, shows that she is productive and is not a likely candidate for the stoning. Jackson uses several forms of irony, it being summer (a happy time), the way the people gather with enthusiasm, and even the title suggests a prize and not death. Hope this helps you get started.
