Just offering food for thought. . .
Though the prof. in a course I'm taking mentioned Freud 3x so far in reference to Yeats and Eliot, he grew visibly uneasy when I brought up Jung in relation to Yeats, specifically "Adam's curse".
I don't need an answer to a question, but if anyone has concurring - or counter arguments it would be interesting for me to hear them.
I am thinking of mythopoeic matrix of Jung = Spiritus mundi of Yeats, the solar, rational of Yeats = the conscious referred to by Jung as keeping us distant from our instincts.
The role of the artist (poet in our case) as being an intermediary to the unconsious is mentioned in Jung writings on Active Imagination. Including the statement they they are deemed unneccessary. This also reminded me of O. Wilde's preface to Dorian Gray.
