: Dear Collin,
: The answer is "yes" to all of your original questions.
: As to your new question here about child abusers, the answer does not concern particular sin (the implication here being that you know how to define "abuse", for example whether it includes ing as some people believe, and that it is sin); but rather, the answer depends on one's relationship to Christ.
Excuse all my clipping, this was getting really long winded.
My original question still stands. A man believes in Christ. Believes he will go to heaven. He also beats (I mean as in black and blue all over beating) his children. God said that it would be better that one where tossed into the ocean with a millstone around their neck (not a pretty picture). Yet this same man will go to heaven? I never said he asked for forgiveness, he believes he's in the right. According to his 'version' of Christianity, this is acceptable. To you and me however, the Bible clearly says his behavior is unacceptable.
Maybe I should rephrase it. Many people have many 'versions' of Christianity. Hey, Hitler thought he was 'saved' and never thought what he did was wrong. He was killing unpure races, just as God had instructed in the old testament. Did Hitler go to Heaven too? Who are we to say who goes to heaven and who doesn't? the only ones we ought be concerned about is ourselves. It's not our place to judge like that. We don't know if God said "Hitler, you have some warped ideas, but you went to confession and had the right intentions, so come on in" or if the abuser was told he should have read a little more carefully, but that's okay.
