So the local forecast is for S winds at 5-10, but Ch 70 says the wind will be 15 at 1pm. What to do? Rig big and wide! The lake saw 2 Seatrend 70s, 1 AHD 310, 1 F2 Phoenix 320, and 1 Tiga 281; sails ranged from 8.0 to 9.5. Winds generally were light, and at first we all spent a fair amount of time looking for puffs. However, those puffs got us all planing at times. The wind picked up around 1pm to a ripping (not!) 10-15 or so at the other end of the lake. Managed to put together several fully-powered runs and jibes in that time. Was it great sailing? Not by any means. Did it beat doing just about anything else on a beautiful March day? Absolutely.
Hope Tuesday brings better winds for you guys. I'll be back with the animals.
