I really need help with some questions about Henry David Thoreau's Walden. Here are the questions that have me stuck:
"Age is no better, hardly so well, qualified for an instructor as youth, for it has not profited so much as it has lost." 1. On which side ofthe generation gap would Thoreau have found himself?
"Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our won private opinion. What a man thinks of himself, that it is hwich determines, or rather indicates, his fate." 2. What does this quote mean to you? 3. Do you agree or disagree with the point Thoreau makes?
Many philosophers have declared that we don't own our possesions; our possesions own us. Do you agree? Does Thoreau seem to agree in the following statement? "When the farmer has got his house, he may not be the richer but the poorer for it, and it be the house that has got him."
Well that's it! I would really appreciate your help Thanks, Brooke
