I have three (3) bound volumes of The Bulletin, published by Western
Canada Airways and later Canadian Airways Limited, covering the period
January 1931 to November 1937 (2 yrs missing from the complete set)
These issues are complete for the period January 1931 to November
1937.
However, with the exception of 2 to 3 examples, these bound issues do
not include covers which routinely included photos and bibliographic
details not found elsewhere in the issues. With the exception of the
title pages, copies are generally Fine. Backs of bindings are strong,
but several folios are loose.
The Bulletin was published by Western Canada Airways and later
Canadian
Airways Limited from July 1929 to November 1937, iniatially monthly
but
from February 1934 every second month. Prepared and edited within the
organization by W.B. Burchall, it was intended primarily to keep staff
informed of company activities. Measuring 5" x 8", it was printed on
glossy coated stock, with a threecolour cover. High quality
photographs, well captioned, were plentiful. It was typically 24 to
28
pages in length, and included listings for officers, aircrew,
aircraft,
bases and flight schedules, as well as aviation news.
Copies of The Bulletin are now collectors items, very much in demand
by
the aviation history community. A clic example of inhouse
journalism, they provide a capsule of commercial aviation in Canada
before the creation of the stateorganized TransCanada Airlines. Open to offers
