Shakespeare talks about the expense of spirit, meaning the use of yourself or to expend yourself, p on your genetic material---the expense of spirit (beauty) is wasteful if done in lust without the intention of procreation. To expend one's spirit in lust is to be wasteful, while expending one's spirit by making a profitable investment in the future generations is a good thing. In line 11 and 12, he writes of bliss in proof---the blissfulness of proving love. Bliss, as in bless or blessed event, to issue forth a child.
