NO way! Philip Larkin was way ahead of his time! Who else would have used language like he did in This Be the Verse? He wasn't just doing it to shock people, that's what he really thought... and anyway, if you were to honestly say he is "out of touch with the modern world", would that be so wrong, considering he didn't exactly live in the modern world?!

: You just need to look at the poems he has written - he has very old traditional views, perhaps even naive.
: I'm not too fully clued up on him yet, and I am also looking for a website, but as a starting point, yse Mr.Bleaney, Broadcast, Faith Healing, Toads Revisited, Water, Self's The Man - there are loads as Larkin uses his experiences of life to write his poetry.
