: In all actuality, what does it matter if he lied about a freakin award. Looking at the whole spectrum of life and things that really matter, whether or not he lied does not seem to hold much value. I dont care if the man lies about crap like that, If he is right about politics then he is right about politics.
: Gee, O'Reilly actually "mispoke" more times than I thought. From the March 1, 2001 Washington Times article:
: : "I anchored a program called 'Inside Edition,' which has won a Peabody Award for investigative reporting" ("The O'Reilly Factor," Aug. 30, 1999);
: : "All I've got to say is that 'Inside Edition' has won, I -- I believe, two Peabody Awards, the highest journalism award in the country" ("The O'Reilly Factor," May 8, 2000);
: : "A program that wins a Peabody Award, the highest award in journalism, and you're going to denigrate it?" ("The O'Reilly Factor," May 19, 2000).
: : And you still call Franken's calling "Mr. No-Spin" on this a "cheap shot"?
: : : The "living sh*t"? OK, let's go to the facts.
: : : In February 2001, O'Reilly gave a speech taking credit for winning a coveted Peabody award during his tenure on Inside Edition. After Franken points out the fact that the show never won a Peabody, O'Reilly retorts on the O'Reilly Factor, March 13, 2001, and I quote: "Guy says about me, a couple of weeks ago, 'O'Reilly said he won a Peabody Award.' Never said it. You can't find a transcript where I said it."
: : : Now the truth. O'Reilly had lied about the award on previous occasions. The transcript of his May 19, 2000 broadcast reveals how he repeatedly told a guest who brought up his tabloid past: "We won Peabody Awards . . . We won Peabody Awards . . . A program that wins a Peabody Award, the highest award in journalism, and you're going to denigrate it?"
: : : As the Washington Post reported on March 1, 2001, Inside Edition never won a Peabody Award, only a Polk Award, and not while O'Reilly was there. Notice, too, that O'Reilly didn't just "mispeak" as he claimed on C-Span. Sure, you can confuse Polk and Peabody, but O'Reilly referred to the award as "the highest award in journalism." That's like confusing Phi Beta Kappa with the Key Club.
: : : So, Franken calls him on it once and O'Reilly flatly denies it. Is it a cheap shot -- when someone repeatedly lies about his credentials, then later denies every ever making any such statement -- to point it out and say "Hey, you're a liar?" I don't think so.
: : : Open your mind to the possiblity that everything you hear on Fox isn't true.
: : :
: : : : Anybody catch your boy get the living shot stomped out of him today by O'Reilly on C-Span? Franken tried to take some cheap shots but Bill totally stood his ground and made an out of Al despite the liberal crowd of cowards clearly siding with Al. I was hoping Bill would take a swing at Franken. I would have if I was there. Franken said it's time for him and other liberals to start fighting back. Great, his first encounter can be with a United States Marine
: : : : From the halls of Montezuma
: : : : To the shores of Tripoli
: : : : We will fight our country's battles
: : : : In the air, on land and sea
: : : : First to fight for right and freedom
: : : : and to keep our honor clean
: : : : We are proud to claim the title
: : : : of
: : : : UNITED STATES MARINE
Wow, what a steak head. So let me get this straight... when you lose an argument, or get proven wrong you should go punch the other guy? I guess your just a level beyond all the other yelling, screaming, foaming at the mouth conservatives. you guys can never admit your wrong, you just change gears.
I'm sure there is a direct relation to a persons IQ/religious beliefs, (namely Christianity) with whether or not someone is liberal minded, or conservative like yourself. Now I don't know what religion you practice, (if any) but you just did a fine j0b of proving your IQ.
Semper Fi, Marine.
Check out the Jeremy Glick video if you haven't already. Bill O'Reilly CANT FACE THE FACTS Jeremy throws at him. he instead yells and tries to bully him much like he did with Al Franken. And as we all know he loses on both counts, and comes off looking like a huge idiot/a$$hole bully. Damm that O'Reilly show must be awesome masturbati0n material for all those who think just like that douche.
Bill O'Reilly...
The biggest douche in the universe.
Alright, maybe I'll change "in the universe" to "on cable news", cause otherwise there is a long list of people deserving of that title (Bush, Limbaugh, Rumsfeld, Coultier, Cheney, etc, etc.)
