: : : We, therefore, the Representatives of the United Stated of America, in General Congress, embled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states: That they are absolved from all Allegience to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free And Independent States, they have full power to levy War, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which Independent States may of right to do. And for support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

: : My main reason for posting the Declaration Of Independence is because I'm concerned about some of the younger generations views that have been posted in this forum and others.

: : I know some of you are still really young and still studying the American Revolution. In saying that though some of the older youth in this forum and others seem to be focusing in on the issue of taxes and only taxes. Some have stated that they "Don't get it, everyone has to pay taxes". Others have even gone to the point of calling themselves a bunch of traitors and that the founding fathers were just greedy for land.

: : The American Revolution was not about just taxes. The problem was not being able to have a say in how things ran in your own area . The British Govt. told them what they were going to do and how they were going to do it without even asking the colonists opinion on weather it was good for the colonies. On top of that they taxed the colonies on everyting. They wanted the the colonists to pay taxes but did not want to hear about their problems. Surely you can determine that the situation would have only become worse for the colonists.
: : If some of you would take take time out to actually read the Declaration Of Independece it would probabley make more sense to you. Lucky for some of you I posted it above......

: : This is not the only doent that is out there that proves this. There were letters written to the British Govt. by Patrick Henry and others almost pleading for a say in the govt. They ignored their pleas time and time again.....
