The Shakespeare Fleet

THE GREAT BOOKS READING REGATTA: Ahoy there. The best teachers of the Great Books are the texts themselves, but at the same time, the Great Books gain their fullest splendor when read within a living context. The Kill Devil Hill Great Books Reading Regatta consists of a fleet of literary vessels, each of which voyages forth once a month with a merry crew seeking to navigate a Great Book. Aboard each literary vessel you shall find a Discussion Deck upon which a contemporary community is devoted to completing the book in tandem. The Great Books are the captains on these voyages, and ye are the loyal crew members, so all mutinous decontructionists will be thrown overboard.

READING SCHEDULE & HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Each ship leaves on the first of every month, and each voyage is twenty-eight days in duration. The reading schedule is given below, along with links to each vessel's Discussion Deck. If you have the time, feel free to sail simultaneously aboard more than one ship. Upon the Discussion Deck you can share your reflections on the cool scenery of the day's chapter with the other crew members. You can report for duty every day or once a week, as long as you have something cool to say. Each Deck provides a twenty-four hour forum, so as to accommodate sailors from all parts of this watery globe. All of these books may be purchased with discounts from our sponsor, A1 Books. On the first day of the month, please introduce yourself to the other crew members with a brief synopsis of your literary tastes. If you should miss the launching, feel free to climb aboard at any time.
