true true. look at book 12 vs book 6 -- book 6 is
anchises telling aeneas the *ten commandments* to
being a great leader/hero (one of which is showing
mercy!!!). but in book 12, aeneas must choose to
follow anchises' *formula* to greatness or follow
his own personal motives, that is, to kill turnus
or to not kill turnus. he does, but even then, you
have to wonder was it all his own choice. if it was,
why does vergil mention pallas' name so often in
that last page?
