: Aeneas was fated to leave Dido. my personal opinion is that he may not necessarily have loved her. You remember that after the night they spent in the cave, "Dido conjugiam vocat" (IV, 172). It was Dido who called it marriage, not Aneas, and remember that the entire thing was arranged by Junoa dn Venus, not by the free will of Dido and Aeneas. --Clare
