: Help me! I have to do a research paper on this topic.
My Prof. made me open my eyes in cl yesterday. I thought that Aeneas and Turnus and Pallas and all the characters were just puppets ofthe gods. In book X it says somewhere that Jove got the Council of gods together and they discussed Aeneas' fate, and I think around there is when Juno asks for the sake of Turnus and tries to convince the gods of sending him with his dad and so on. I think they acted like everythingwas a whole game and the gods just had to decide what they would do with the characters' lives everyday.
Well my teacher asked in cl if it could be that actually the characters and the gods are all Virgil's puppets... It's a great question and, the way I see it, it makes a lot of sense because of the way we see both the characters and the gods be manipulated along the story, in ways in which it helps the author clarify the transition of the events and have the events themselves make a whole lot more sense. I hope this makes sense and helps. Bye
