The reason we seee a weak Aeneeas in the opening books is that his character is entirely Trojan. Aeneas who must create rome must overcome the failures and the weaknesses of the trojans. Virgil build up his hero from the weakness of his Trojan beginning adds in a little greek intellegence and alot of sufferin and from a Trojan and true pious, strong Roman is born

: : Turnus can be considered a hero -- but I think by those who idolize failures.
: : since you say that only failures would consider Turnus a hero, does that mean that you agree with the majority of people in that Aeneas is the hero and does an extremely good of it? what about what is a hero? what qualities make a hero?In book one, we see Aeneas, just after the storm or even during it and he acts like he's already been defeated - how he wishes he had died in Troy. Then in book 2 we see Aeneas as the pious one taking his father and his son away from Troy. the point i am trying to make is why do we see a weak aeneas - this is the first we se of him?
: any thoughts? let me know
: ta.
