When Plato speaks of forms he means something that is a visible aspect of the thing in itself. For example, when we think of the concept of infinity we can not see it. Can you see infinity? The IDEA of infinity is real, we know it exists, but we can not see infinitiy in itself. This is why we have a form of symbols (8) or a number( 3.14) to represent the idea. These forms are not real, but the idea of infinity itself is whats really real, although we cannot see what infinity really looks like. The same with the Good....The definition or idea we have of what is good is; is real to us, although we can not see this idea in itself. However, we can see forms of this goodness, such as "This book is good", "this is a good person" this is the only way we can SEE goodness, but we can not see the definition of goodness itself, although we CAN know it, and that is what is real.
