Superstring theory definitely stands on the forefront of high-energy physics for the next 100 years. Finding an "M" theory, one that would be able to successfully explain all the phenomena in our universe, is still the main goal of frontier physics, I think. Also, and I believe Superstring theory has achieved this but there is still some debate, any theory that could bring together relativity and quantum mechanics once and for all would be ideal. I know the quantum udulations are supposedly "smudged out" by string theory (since the string is as tiny as anything can get!) but I have also heard many people who oppose this theory due to it's radical proposal of numerous curled up dimensions. I don't think the Higgs boson has been discovered yet either - that's another major hunt thats taking place at most international accelerators. In 100 years, lets hope that time travel is also something we speak about more often! - The Quantum Kid
