Here is one view.
Maybe the universe is infinately old and the big bang has allways been there. We think we know the universe is about 15 billion years old, but what's a year?
Our units of measurement may not be relevant to the very early universe. In the first few seconds, mini universes could have been born and died. We can only measure the age of the universe from our point within it, Our notion of time is only relative to our sensibilities, and our limitations. The part we call the big bang happended when the universe was infinately dense and small, maybe there was an infinate amount of activity at this point, becomming less active as the universe expanded and cooled, causing everything to s l o w d o w n t o t h e p o i n t w e r 'e a t t o d a y.......?
