: How should we live?
: I have an interest in Ethics. It seems that people through the ages (white male philsophers, actually) have had difficulty establishing a viable ethics which people can relate to. Whether it be virtue ethics, or duty ethics, or the Buddhist eighfold path, or the Ten Commandments, or the sermon on the Mount, the reading public don't seem to have warmed generally.
: So...if there are not many philosophical questions that you can't answer (Mr Sadler?)...could you tell me your thoughts on the question of 'how we should live?'...

from eldras:
ethics is where we're at in the present debate (I argue that a philosophy debate extends through the centuries).
ETHICS greatly interest me.
1. we must distinguish ethivs from morals. Morals are based on survival and extends to society surviving inorder to give our person a better chance of survival. High morality is selfishness par excellence.
2. Ethics is the science of self and society and all forms of men, living in the perfection of nature.
For example, the sun rises at 5 am. You rise at 5 pm.
Numbers are perfect forms (Platon), and architecture should be designed accordingly, so that man can achieve his destiny...er you may take that to mean live in harminy with the world.
Consider the man who repeatedly tried to wlk into a mountain. He became extinct
ethics involves undrestanding the elements, being in good physical shape, conforming to te laws of nature: the science of living, AND organising our affairs.
Perfection is important in ethics. The attempt is absolute perfection.
I think the coming leap into cyborgs will help this a lot.
a major issue then is...where does creativity fit into place?
Ta Salutant!
