If Q were to kill Daniel it would be a benefit to the entire world. Nobody could possibly think that such an act was anything but noble heroism, to be lauded, feted, and honored.

In fact, some evidence suggests that this murder would also be in Daniel's "rational self interest", because it would prevent him from making some serious intellectual blunders, and becoming a laughingstock.
