: Logicans call this argumentum ad ignorantum (that's latin for "we speak latin, and you do not", or... Argument from Ignorance). Here you're shifting the burden of proof to where it does not belong. I can say, "Hey, prove that unicorns don't exist."
excuse me, I think God is a little different from unicorns. We're talking about the great creator of the universe.
: Lastly, Objectivists will claim their life does have meaning. After all, they live for themselves, while you, a silly "mystic", live for some non-existent being. You'll waste your time away on ineffectual one-sided prayers while they're bringing their creative genuis to the marketplace. Utilitarians can say their ultimate purpose is bringing the "greatest good to the greatest number". What about other religionists who don't share your belief in (Judeo-Christian?) God? Muslims? Deists? Hindus?
Because God exists, I wouldn't say prayer is a waste of time (remember, you can't prove he doesn't exist)-- William James tells us that if it works, it's good-- prayer touches the soul, it works-- and other relgions will learn the hard way that just like 2 plus 2 only equals 4, there is just one way to God.
