: I don't believe someone who claims to be rational like Rand doesn't believe in God. Of course there's a God.
: you have to take a leap of faith. Where did we all come from? There's no meaning to life if there's no God. And how can she prove that there is no God, anyway? Did she explore every nook and cranny in the universe, and now tells us that there's no God? Absurd. You need faith.
Logicans call this argumentum ad ignorantum (that's latin for "we speak latin, and you do not", or... Argument from Ignorance). Here you're shifting the burden of proof to where it does not belong. I can say, "Hey, prove that unicorns don't exist."
Objectivists, and others, militantly oppose "faith" (even though Rand reportedly uses faith multiple times in describing Objectivism (Rand Journals (Different "Context", I'm sure))).
Lastly, Objectivists will claim their life does have meaning. After all, they live for themselves, while you, a silly "mystic", live for some non-existent being. You'll waste your time away on ineffectual one-sided prayers while they're bringing their creative genuis to the marketplace. Utilitarians can say their ultimate purpose is bringing the "greatest good to the greatest number". What about other religionists who don't share your belief in (Judeo-Christian?) God? Muslims? Deists? Hindus?
