An axiom, as you state, is something that is 'self-evident'. It can also be something that is 'universally accepted'.
It is a proposition that is not susceptible to proof or disproof.
It is purely the basis of reasoning. This is its meaning. It also means existence does not depend on anything else, including humans.
If you do not accept this as an axiom then you either accept 'Existence does not exist' or you believe existence is not a fundamental and can be determined from something fundamental.
How do we define gravity, light or magnetism? If you try to define these they may help with your questioning of Existence as an axiom.
If you do not accept existence exists as an axiom, how do you hope to answer your second query regarding order in the universe?
What is ordered and what is the universe?
Why does there have to be intelligence because there is order?
Is a hydrogen atom intelligent because it forms an ordered relationship when placed vicinal to another hydrogen atom? Is this state more ordered than when the two atoms were not bonded together?
Why does life have to have a meaning?
