I think the story that is being discussed here is "A True Story, Word for Word as I Heard It." This is a narrative/transcript that Twain wrote in 1874 that is ther account given to him by Aunt Rachael and her life as a slave and being reunited with her son who was reunited 13 years after being separted when sold at auction. : : I recently watched a public television show on I HAVE A BOOK OF MARK TWAINS CALLED SKETCHES IT WAS PIBLISHED IN 1875 THE SPINE OF THE BOOK IS BROKEN DO I HAVE A VALUABLE BOOK OR JUNK? e life of Samuel Clemmons ( Twain )and there was a mention of a book he wrote about the life of one of theirhired help , maybe a cook or housekeeper . This woman was a freed slave and her story was very moving . The name Aunt Rachael sticks in my mind . Could this be the name of the book , or does anyone know which book this might pertain to ?
