Wow, you really know your literature! This was kind of the idea I had but had a hard time narrowing it down to a specific topic but your input was very helpful and for that I thank you! I admit that I have not read a lot of Fitzgerald so I will need to find more of his stories that pertain to war enough to use in my paper. 20 pages is a lot for me so I hope I can find enough material to meet the length requirements!
I was also toying with the idea of writing my paper on the weakness and predictability of the male characters in both Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Examples: A New Leaf, The Sun Also Rises, The Great Gatsby, etc. Stories where the men consistently persue women who are not good enough for them or only have their good looks to offer, which seems to be enough for the men because they endure a lot in an effort to win over these unworthy women. I think I like the war idea better though.
