Tess has heaps of levels such as 1)the role of the seasons and nature in describing the story 2)the moral issues of the time 3)the of the land by the agrarian revolution (can be compared with Alec's of Tess) and 4)Hardy's changing political beliefs throughout the story. Good luck!
