The main characters are Eustacia and Clym, they both die in the middle. Then Thomasin is revealed as the murderer at which point Clym's ghost comes to haunt her and get revenge. Thomasin kills herself and then the novel ends with peace being restored to the Heath. Peace thus being the native.
