: This sounds crazy but I've read in either "The Beautiful and the Dam*ed"(apparently I can't put the full title on this page), "Tender is the Night", or possibly "The Great Gatsby" a page in which a male character is eating asparagus and contemplates how his urine will smell strong later. This only comes up because someone recently told me that only 30% of the population has trouble digesting the enzyme that makes the strong smell. I could not get this person to believe that Fitzgerald had actually written about it but I'm convinced that I've seen the page. I dragged out my copies of the two former but can't find "The Great Gatsby." There are, as everyone knows, a great number of scenes and references to do with food but after a fairly good scan, I've turned up nothing. Can anyone help me with this?? Thanks.
