: Can anyone comment as to the critical opinion of Mr. Blotner's biography of Faulkner?
: Someone suggested to me recently that the critical opinion of the work may not be high,
: and considering that the book makes little or no mention of Meta Carpenter, Faulkner's longtime
: lover, or H [ubert?] Starr, a lifelong friend of Faulkner's, suggests to me this may be the case.
This bio has many merits, beyond doubt.
It's packed with numerous valuable info.
Yet...it gives a slightly distorted, "saintly" picture
of Faulkner. The best choice is to combine
Blotner's with Richard Gray's bio.
