What is it about water metaphors that resonate? SAC read something to me the other day that he had written, and there was a section about a river and although I think he originally wrote it to be pretty literal, it transcended the story itself and became something else. . .

anyway. . .
You'll recognize this (the poem you posted made me think of it):


We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy love
The sun so bright it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone
On the face of earth
The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes

And in the world a heart of darkness
A fire zone
Where poets speak their heart
Then bleed for it

In the hands of love
