:I also have a ACD (heeler) mis...if given the chance my dog would not only get into the neighbors trash, but she would pick their lock and clean out the fridge!!!...smart dogs!!!...My suggestion would be to bring your dog in at night...some people like to keep their dogs outside and they feel the dog will keep people, burglars or what ever away....there is only one better defense against unwanted guest than a dog outside your house...and that is a dog INSIDE your house....a barking dog can be quieted...but a dog in the house makes someone think twice before crawling through a window......also ....heelers are the best sleeping buddies....good snugglers!!!...good luck...
