Hi everyone!
This is my first time at this message board, and I need
some help finding my "perfect" breed. I've been doing
dog breed research for months, and tried
every possible selector on the net, but I never get
consistent responses, so I figured I needed some real,
human advice. Here are the "requirements"; hope
someone can help!
*The Landlord's stipulations are for dogs under 30lbs,
and ones that aren't indiscriminately yappy, (and I
occasionally like my silence too).*One of the
"Friendlier" breeds, (yeah, all breeds can be friendly
with their owners, but I'd find it more difficult to
get along with an Afghan or an Airedale than a
Golden Retriever).*I'm not the dominant type myself,
so I figure the "protection" breeds are out (besides,
they're mostly too large), and I've heard even terriers
may be too much.*Intelligent, not just trainable -
I don't mean a totally independent thinker, but one
who can problem solve as well as listen to me
reasonably well.*I'm NOT allergic to dogs, but I am
to cats, so while I don't need a breed specifically
good for allergy sufferers, high-medium shedding
breeds are unfortunately not on my list.
*I bike and swim for fun, but not regularly enough for
a high-energy breed; I'd much rather take quick
morning and evening walks, and invest in a "dog carrier
backpack" for a small/toy breed.*While I don't mind,
and would even enjoy, combing a long-haired breed,
I have little inclination to take a bichon or a poodle
to a groomer's every 6 weeks.
Maybe my problem is that I'm too specific . . . ???
Well, for anyone who thinks they might be able to help out, any and all opinions are welcome!
Thanks again!
Meg.
