Perhaps the best one available is by Andre Jardin, called simply *Tocqueville: A Biography.* (New York: Farrar Giroux Strauss, 1988). Another good very recent one is by Matthew Mancini called *Tocqueville.* (New York: Twayne Publishers, 1994).
