Thanks for your detailed reply.
I agree that the fossil record is sparse in comparison to the number of life forms which have inhabited this earth, but from the many thousands of examples which have been unearthed, there is virtually no evidence of the transitional species needed to verify evolution theory - so no matter how much postulating one does, you ultimately come back to faith - or wishful thinking.
We are not really in any position to define how intelligent design should perform, because we do not know what the ultimate aim of the Creator is. Indeed the Christian Gospel story shows how death can ultimately bring about eternal salvation.
Have you ever wondered how something too small for us to see, containing all the information needed to build a human body, can have come into existance without any intelligent intervention ? It is a masterpiece of design from a world beyond our understanding.
