What do I think an American Renaissance shall entail? It shall not entail one writer publishing his or her works and then trumpeting to the world that a renaissance consists in those writings. Nor shall it entail a single group of writers doing that either. It shall entail a much larger phenomenon than that - many writers, aritsts, musicians and the like working independently of each other to produce works that recapture the spirit of what our country is all about, and others looking on from the perspective of years and saying, "Ar! This was a renaissance!"

One can no more legitimately claim to be starting a renaissance than one can claim to be starting a new tradition or to be making one's own law. All ye can do is speak yer truth and let the world decide fer itself.

Ahoy, matey! I've been at sea fer a while and jest got back into port. Very good words, indeed, but the test is also one of time. It's what future generations will think of yer work that will qualify it as a renaissance. But, be it a renaissance or not, ye have a good thing going here.
