: : Consider this: what if this universe and all other universes are the illusion? I know it's a weird notion, but this is philosophy now. What if that's really the case?

: -----------------------------------------------

: I tend towards Kant's views.

: I don’t know how familiar you are with Immanuel Kant, but he described the universe in two parts. The world as it appears (to us), and the world the way it really is. I’m not an expert on Kant or anything, but I think that he did borrow from Plato,

Kant went much further than Plato ever considered. I'm not famliar with him at all, but his work is extremely difficult to read, much less comprehend. Indeed, it's pedantic. Still, this seems to be a better way to state the case than to ume, as I did, that this is a complete illusion. This is just something that I've been thinking about by myself, when dealing with a Creator. It seems to me that God could indeed create an omiverse that is essentially a bubble.
In this case He would be Reality and the bubble would be the Ominverse and what we do in it.

But I do prefer Kant's division which creates a more complicated picture than I had previously considered dividing what I was thinking about into the following:

a. Omiverse
b. Our perceptions of it
c. God -- the Ultimate Oberserve and Ultimate Reality.

In this case the Ultimate Observer would still be the greater reality. Perhaps that's a better way to state this which lends reality to us as well. It's been destructive so far to tell people that they might not be reality.

One of my philosophy teachers (who was a philosopher of mathematics) made the comment that maybe the reason modern physics is so strange is that its’ really just the best we can do. And maybe we would all need brains the size of football stadiums to understand the universe the way it really is.

I think he's talking about God in my model -- a Being who knows it because he created it. What I am creating is an extension of another Being who knows all of the natural laws because He created them.

And as I ponder such obvious contradictions in physics, such as the whole particle, wave duality in nature. Which to me is like saying something is both round and square (at the same time).

Yeah, it's confusing because they are supposed to be different aspects of the same phenomenon and the conclusions are counter-intuitive. Gives me a headache fairly rapidly.

Maybe the answer is that the particle side is illusory (I don’t know), you certainly can’t through away the wave side of things. And QED, while I know it’s the best scientific theory we have, is obviously wrong. I won’t go into it, but it violates every conservation law we have. But it is accurate to 12 decimal places, or so.

That's quite a problem as it is but an excellent estimate of that which we consider reality. Of course that is precisely what all scientific theories are, although QED is the most difficult to comprehend by far.

And while I think that modern physics may be mankind’s greatest accomplishment. I can’t help but think of Kant every time I hear the word neutrino, or graviton, or curved space-time.

I wish I could be of more service to you, but I cannot.
