Hi my name is Susan,
On may 26, 2000 I was arrested for domestic violence. Now I am confused as to why I was the one arrested...here is what happened, maybe some can set me straight on this.
I was at home having a few beers,husband was out golfing all day with his buddies I'm sure having a few beers also. No big deal right? Not until H got home irrate with me because I was drinking, I was drinking around the kids.I was not falling down drunk...I was not slurring my words.. I was only having a few beers working outside mowing and planting flowers while the kids were playing with neighborhood friends,always in my sight, and me always in theirs.He came home yelling at me..calling me a rotten mother, spitting in my face, calling me the "C" word....pushing me to my point of explosion! So I thew a bucket of water on him that the paint brushes were soaking in, from me painting the mail box that day also! He shoved me..I fell..got back up and kicked him in the groin...hit his leg instead. He punched me in the side of the head leaving a 1 inch gash and black and blue.Today it is much worse...whole side of face is black and blue. After the punch..I punched him back,he does not have a mark on him! He proceeded to call 911 because he said I was a violent drunk out of control.So the police arrive..ask me my side of the story...I am bleeding profusely on the side of my face! I told them what I am telling you, they gave me 5 min. of their time...and 25 min to my H out in the driveway! They came back in the house and said I am being arrested and read me my rights!!!! What??? Me..the one that is bleeding..and very upset! And him with out a mark and very calm and cool (he is a salesman..) I am sure he talked his way out of it.I could hardly talk due to the shape I was in. So trying to make this long story short..I was hauled to jail!! I have never been arrested in my life, I don't even have parking tickets or speeding, my record is clean!! I am upper middle cl...respectable mother of 2 that is very active in the school and the community and coach my daughters softball team ect...I just enjoy having some beers at home once in awhile and never do I leave home when drinking. But obviously its against the law to drink at home now! I had to spend the night in jail..along with some pretty rough women..my H was ready to leave me in that snake pit till tues.! Due to the holiday weekend thats how long I would have stayed.But thank God for my dear sister posting my (GET THIS!!!) 1,000 dollar bond, I am out with 35 hrs in that hole! If I was arrested for a DUI my bond would have been 120 does that make any sense to anyone? does this story make any sense to anyone? Was I wrongfully arrested? I am totally confused as to what to do and what my rights are..being my first time dealing with the judicial system..I hope someone can help me and set me straight before Tues. May 30, that is my court date. Thank-you for your patience in reading my extreamly long letter.Oh if this matters I am a 40 yr old woman married to the same man for 15 yrs..with no domestic violence charges in the past. Thanks and I will be waiting for a quick reply from someone that can help!!!!
