Personality,
You’ve made no bigoted statements? Really? Then PERHAPS someone is impersonating you. “Oh well, I'll always have a thing for Mexican women despite their jealous nature,” are not those your thoughts expressed at this site? That is, indeed, a bigoted statement. Of course, that’s not all…
You also seem to think that ramblings of an individual represent an extremely large group of people- Mexicans. You responded to an individual, who seemed to be angry over some racist postings, with: “You really must make other Mexicans proud. ‘We claim welfare... we use foodstamps... we like gangs.’ That's really intelligent. By saying those kinds of things, you're doing more to degrade the Mexican community than any white racist could ever hope for. You're proving everyone's point when you say that sh*t… You shame the Mexican community.”
So, do YOU really think this individual “shames an “Mexican community?” If an individual can shame an entire group by merely writing a few thoughts, then what of an individuals deeds? Does the deed of the individual shame the entire group? It would seem by your logic that the answer to that question is yes. So then, what can be said about the Europeans and their deeds? If this is so, what of the white slave traders, the white slave owners, the white people who killed off millions of Native Americans, Native Meso-Americans, Native South Americans, Philipinos, Indians, Native Australians, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, and the Blacks who lived sub-Sarah region of Africa?
The English, Dutch, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Germans, and Belgians all engaged in activities that were evil. Do the deeds of the individuals belonging to these groups shame the entire group of which they are apart? If you remain consistent in your train of thought then you would say “yes.” That is of course, if you conclude that the killing millions of people over land and wealth (i.e. natural resources and human resources), then subjecting them to a subservient position in society through laws and social mores, and finally followed by contemporary ridicule because a majority of decedents of these non-whites compete at an substandard level in the academic world and consequently in society in general as being evil.
So, my question to you is: Are YOU ashamed of your heritage? Should you be ashamed? My educated guess is that you’ll respond, “no.” And if you respond “no,” I would conclude you to be inconsistent at best, a hypocrite at worst. Therefore, I would characterize your criticisms of the afore mentioned individual’s postings as dimwitted and conceived with painfully little forethought.
Now, should not the shame rest with those individuals who would judge, or make general conclusions about a group of people based on the ramblings of an individual? What reasonable conclusions could be extrapolated from an individual who believes that he is, “proving everyone's point when you say that sh*t?” Would it be unreasonable to surmise that anyone who agrees with or concludes this sentiment is prone to making simplistic statements? I would answer, yes.
I am of “Mexican” heritage, or more accurately “Native American” heritage and not only am I not ashamed by his statements I understand the context from which they arise. Look at how many white groups there are worldwide whose driving force is the hatred of Mexicans, or more accurately Brown people native to the Americas, or for that matter Brown people worldwide.
To be continued…
