Why can't the Democrats run a convention? On the first day, they trot out Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Jesse Jackson. Although none of them gave one of the better speeches of his career, the chances of Gore or Lieberman matching any of their oratorical skills is nil.
Yesterday, Lieberman reminded me of Dukakis with his monotone delivery and boring speech. Then the Party trots out one of Gore's daughters to explain that "dad" is really a human bieng, after all, and not a robot. I only watched about five minute's of the daughter's speech, because it was so embarring. She kept telling boring and not-very-cute stories about family life with "dad", and I kept hoping that she wouldn't start using the word "daddy".
Although my political sympathies are generally with the Democrats, if the ability to run a convention bespeaks exectutive skill, the Republicans seem better suited to inhabit the White House.
