J. Edgar Hoover was NOT a cross-dresser

Author: Craig (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: 01-12-05 05:43 At least that's what one book says. The book is called "Puppetmaster: the Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover." .According to the author the story originated from a woman who had just gone through an acrimonious divorce and thought Hoover had investigated her at her husband's request. To get Hoover back she spread around the story that she saw Hoover in drag at an @!#$. People who knew her gave the story no thought but Truman Capote picked it up and spread it around as if it were true. When asked about it later Capote admitted that the story was probably false but in Capote's words, "Who cares?" The author of the book obviously has no love for Hoover so I'm inclined to believe him. Comments?
