McCain has too much history as a republican to ever become a democrat. He could run as an independent as I think he is still a "Goldwater Republican" and there is not a lot of room left for him in the party. Powell has stood by the president through the Iraq war, his wife does not want her husband getting assasinated, and I think she is a wise woman. For all the polling that is done, I seriously do not believe that Southern states would back a black presidential canidate, not too mention that Powell is pro-choice. He too will not simply switch parties, the right wing machine would make too much noise, and can you hear the F word. I can, flip-flopper, flipping sides. One more thing, would General Powell or Sen. McCain ride Hillary's coattails. I'd like to think they have more self-respect than that, or at the least, more ego!
