Use Google image search for Pluto and
examine the famous Hubble image of
the Pluto Charon system. Pluto is a
pretty rough spheroid is it not.
But you may say its a very small
object for any scope. Well its the
best optics looking through a vacuum
and imaged on the geometrical
perfection of a ccd. In 1988 there
was a very successful occultation
event by Pluto of a star. Several
chords were obtained. I got the
results from the Royal Astro Society.
I got out a rough picture of the
size of the Planet. It seemed pear
shaped. Well there should be an image
in a few years so I waited. For some
reason I had to wait longer than I
expected but when the image came it
just showed the non spherical shape.
It provides an explanation of the
atmosphere as this is a body still
forming into a sphere and any gases
will be released. But no one talks
about it. Strange!
