My husband and I just bought a beautiful home in Southern Oregon and we have the best few of the sky and stars from our back deck. We have two childern that love to stargaze. We recently decided we should purchase a telescope for the family. I want to be careful in my purchase and need some professional advice. I saw two telescopes at our local Wal-Mart and I have the specifications written down. I want to know if it would be worth purchasing or if there is a better way to go. We want to see the moon, and the craters, we want to see objects in the sky such as satilites and such. What type of lens, size etc... is recommended? One telescope says 675x60mm, 1.25 eye pieces 6x24mm 900mm/60 object lenth... what ever all that means! The other is 114mm computerized reflector D 114mm F 1000mm. From what I have already read on the internet it is suggested to have a refractor vs a reflector right? Okay I need help.. anyone want to chat on line about this please email me and we can do an IM.
